Cristian Proa is a Mexican director, screenwriter, producer and visual artist based in Miami. Founder and director of Muestra de Cine 1910, he has developed a practice spanning feature and short films, writing, teaching and cinema-community projects between Mexico and the United States.

His work repeatedly explores loss, isolation, memory, dreams, perception and the relationship between human experience, spirituality and image. Mephisto is his first feature film. He is currently developing The Smell of Blood Won't Leave My Eyes.
